Chris first developed an interest in food at an early age, looking to escape the small village he grew up in he secured a chef job in a hotel kitchen in France. He quickly found he had a love for experimenting with produce and creating new exciting dishes.
Since then his hard work and dedication has seen him work in award winning kitchens such as the prestigious Fat Duck group. The experience and mentoring received here has been key in allowing him to cultivate his culinary enthusiasm for developing innovative and exciting techniques.
More recently Chris has managed a kitchen in an acclaimed Cotswolds’ establishment where he has accomplished a number of awards in his own right. From this he brings to The White Spoon a passion for local produce and suppliers that he can utilise to deliver the exceptional flavours found at The White Spoon. His menus demonstrate his passion for showcasing the diversity of ways in which an ingredients can be prepared,
Like most food lovers Chris & Purdey spend most of their free time either eating or drinking. The pair love to experience new cultures and when near never need an excuse to visit a local vineyard!
These experiences inspire the food and wine served at The White Spoon, which is a primarily British themed menu, but you will find flavour influences from around the globe.
Chris and Purdey are two ordinary people, with big dreams. They both grew up in families where food was everything, and together they have become a tiny bit obsessed! Having spent the last 10 years working hard to achieve their ambitions, they now see their ultimate dream come to fruition in The White Spoon.
Through the White Spoon they want to pass on their dining experiences to those who enjoy eating and drinking as much as they do! For Chris, it is freedom to cook the food that excites.
By using modern techniques, individual flavours are elevated into something truly exciting. Chris is always careful to ensure nothing is lost from the ingredients’ original charm.
Our aim is to create a relaxed and informal environment without compromising on quality or standard of food, an alternative to fine dining. Attentive service coupled with a contemporary feel makes The White Spoon a place where everybody should feel comfortable.

The restaurant itself has a natural look and feel to it, from the reclaimed timber tabletops to the stone-like tableware, connecting our patrons to the origins of the ingredients they are dining on.
